Tom and I have a goal to have couch time every night. It's our time to hang out with each other, talk, and even squeeze in a competitive game of Nerts. Our kids aren't allowed to interupt us. The goal is for our kids to see us enjoying each other's company and having fun together. The goal is for us to put our marriage before our kids. And the goal is to do this while they are awake so they can see us. We know this will give them the security of knowing their parents love each other. Plus it's just fun to have grown up time! If we can do this with an 8, 3, and 1 year old, anyone can do it!! We've been going to a Monday night small group that has challenged us to do this every night. We've noticed that the boys have been playing together a lot better since we've started our couch time. Here's a clip of them having fun together while Tom and I are playing Nerts.

What a great idea! Mom and I would go the track and tell you kids we were going to run, and we gave you toys to play with in the jump pit sand.
Sometimes you would also run around the track after us, but it was out time.

wow. this is a blast from the past! i was just reminiscing a bit about childhood and i googled "tom paudler somerset" and this page popped up. tom, this is an old somerset elementary school friend, matt allen. i still see your old friends mark beebe, dana christian and jill trimble regularly! i live in seattle, have 3 kids (7, 5 and 1). interestingly, allison and i have been talking about taking the three kids to portugal or sicily for 3 weeks or so...still not sure if this is a reality but ironic to see this post. hope you and the rest of your family are well. love to catchup and hear if you have any sicily input for me. cell 2063131190
Matt, so good to hear from you!! I can not wait to connect with you. I have tried to google your name in the past and tried to connect but unable. Oh, the somerset days. Been a crazy work week for me and today we had a bunch of water come into our garage and basement from a good days worth of rain. Will try to give you a call tommorrow or later this week. Carey...Jeremy and I started "couch time" back when our first two were toddlers. It is truly amazing how spending time as a couple in front our children has such a wonderful affect on them. Keep it up and thanks for the reminder. We need to start having couch time again! God bless you two!
